Galamsey: Ghana’s cocoa beans under threat

The President of Friends of Rivers and Water body, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong, has stated that sooner than later, Ghana’s Cocoa beans will be rejected on the international market due to the excessive use of chemicals by Galamsey operators.

He explained that, lots of activities including galamsey operations have destroyed all water bodies in the country which has greatly affected all activities in the country.

Speaking with ATINKA NEWS on the occasion of World Water Day, Nana Dwomoh said the pollution of our water bodies have now become a National Security issue which really needs to be looked at immediately by authorities.

He has therefore called on the two Ex Presidents in the country, President Mahama and all MPs to add their voices to the call as water pollution has now become a social menace.

On World Water Day, people all over the world show that they care and that they have the power to make a difference. They get inspired by information and use it to take action and change things.

Nearly all jobs are related to water and those that ensure its safe delivery as Nana Dwomoh explains, ‘water is the number one employer in the world as 1.5 billion people are employed by water’ which means much has to be done to save our water bodies.

According to him, there will be a time when there will be no water for proper sanitation, farming, health and all aspect of human life if our water bodies are not safeguarded.
