Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) Limited has donated GHC20, 000 to the Accra Psychiatric hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
The donation according to GhIPSS is to assist with the effective management of the hospital following reports of the under-resourced nature of the health care facility hence affecting it smooth operation.
Management of GhIPSS noted that the facility is distressed and called on philanthropists and other corporate bodies to support them regularly, adding government’s annual subvention was inadequate to cater for the inmates, whose needs are always unmet.
The donation forms part of the week long 10 year anniversary of GhIPSS under the theme: "10 Years of Promoting Electronic Payments in Ghana", which began with a Public Lecture on the Evolution of Payment Systems in Ghana.
Vice President delivered a keynote address on theme for the celebration.
The week's activities will end with a thanksgiving service at the Accra Ridge Church on Sunday, the 4th of June.
