Accra, Sept. 13, GNA - Payroll managers have been asked to use modern payment systems to ease problems.
Mr Archie Hesse, General Manager in-charge of Project and Business Development at Ghana Interbank and Payment Systems (GhIPSS), who gave the advice said there were now various payment systems which made it easy to manage payrolls and pay staff quicker.
Mr Hesse in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra, said it was possible now to move huge sums of money from one account to another of a different bank in real time, adding that complaints that it took time to process and pay salaries should now be a thing of the past.
He said various electronic products such as the Payment Distribution System (PDS) and the Ghana Automated Clearing House (GACH) were able to facilitate the payment of salaries and therefore urged organisations particularly officers in charge of payroll to use any of these electronic payment systems.
Mr Hesse explained that each of these systems had its peculiar features and therefore encouraged the organisations to approach their banks to find out which of them would best suit their circumstances.
"With the establishment of GhIPSS and the rollout of its infrastructure as well as the various products, interbank transactions can now be done in real time," he added.
Mr Hesse called on banks to inform clients of the various payment offerings and encourage them to use them to make their work more efficient, quicker and cost effective.
The GhIPSS General Manager explained that the PDS and GACH were not restricted to payment of salaries.
He said any organisation that dealt with transfer of huge sums of money regularly could also resort to any of these systems.
GhIPSS was set up primarily to improve the country's payment systems and managers say they would continue to work to ensure Ghana had one of the best systems.
