Ghana has been selected as the West Africa Office of Express International (EI), Africa Division, manufacturers of executive diaries and other quality corporate promotional items.
Mr Brendan Cody, Chairman of EI, Africa Division, who made this known in Accra during a courtesy call on the Minister of Information and Presidential Affairs, Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, said Ghana's selection was in support of government's "Golden Age of Business" policy.
Mr Cody, based in Europe, said the company whose core market is the Middle East and Africa, has been penetrating the West African market for the past few years.
He said, during this period, the company has been supplying diaries direct from the factory to some major Ghanaian institutions.
"Ghana is a peaceful secure country with great people and therefore we have decided to site our West Africa Office here," the EI Chairman remarked. He added that arrangements have been made to rent office accommodation immediately in Accra and later build the company's own office.
Mr Cody said EI has short, medium and long term plans for Ghana, one of which, he said, is to carry out part of its production process in the country to facilitate better service to the West Africa market, whilst at the same time, offer employment opportunities to Ghanaians.
Mr Obetsebi Lamptey expressed appreciation to the company for its decision to invest in Ghana, and promised government's support.
Referring to the similarities between Ireland's exploitation of its periphery strategic location to large markets in Europe and Ghana's desire to do likewise for the massive West African Market, the Information Minister showed great interest in EI's strategy to serve its fast-growing customer base from Ghana.
