Ghana, Fujian province establish relationship

The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council and the Fujian Province have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to mark the startof a sister province relationship between them.

Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, told journalists on the sidelines of the 18th China International Investment and Trade Fair that the deal would promote bilateral cooperation on many issues.

He said the partnership would cover areas such as education, agriculture, trade, industry, science and technology as well as culture and any other areas of interest to the two partners.

Nii Afotey-Agbo said under education, the two partners would explore scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian and Chinese students to study in each other’s country.

There would also be opportunity to explore how the relationship could be used to tackle the challenges of waste management in the Accra Metropolis and also in agriculture to enhance poultry production in order to create jobs.

The Minister said Greater Accra would do all in its power to address its challenges and to foster economic growth, develop public health, education, science and technology, transportation and energy.
