Accra, June 1 GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs held consultations with President Lansana Conteh of Guinea in Conakry aimed at resolving the current impasse in the operations of Anglogold Ashanti Limited in Guinea.
A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and signed by Michael Ofori-Attah, Public Relations Officer, said the Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the consultations and thanked President Conteh for his commitment to work towards resolving the Anglogold Ashanti Limited impasse.
The Minister also extended the gratitude of President Kufuor to President Conteh for his assistance in the Liberian Peace process.
It was President Kufuor's hope that, the Guinean President would continue to contribute to the peace process.
Nana Akufo-Addo further commended President Conteh for his contribution to the Mano River Union Summit recently held in Conakry, Guinea and said that, it was an important initiative that would help restore peace in West Africa.
The statement said the Foreign Minister who was accompanied by Mr. Akosah-Bempah, Chief Financial Officer of Anglogold Ashanti Limited, Mr. Ben Aryee, Chief Executive Office of the Ghana Minerals Commission and some officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have since returned home. 2 June 04
