The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, held a high-level meeting with the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, on October 14, 2025, to discuss ongoing and future development partnerships aimed at accelerating Ghana's economic transformation.
In a post shared on his X page, as sighted by GhanaWeb Business, Ato Forson described the meeting as "productive" with discussions focused on supported projects by the bank designed to fast-track inclusive and sustainable growth in Ghana.
"Our discussions centered on both ongoing World Bank–supported projects and new initiatives that will further accelerate Ghana’s growth and transformation," he stated.
He said five strategic sectors have been identified as priorities for enhanced World Bank support from education, health, energy, road infrastructure, and agriculture.

The finance minister was accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama, and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith.
Dr Forson further added that the meeting reaffirmed both parties' commitment to forging stronger partnerships that will deliver tangible results.
The World Bank has long been a development partner to Ghana, supporting key reforms and investments in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic governance.
