Ghana commercial Bank presents vehicle to Children's Hospital in

Accra, Sept. 16, GNA - Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Friday presented an air-conditioned 15-seater Toyota Hiace bus, valued at 38,800 dollars (GH?59,000), to the Princess Marie Louise Children's Hospital in Accra.

Management of the hospital has been appealing to philanthropists, organisations and institutions to assist them with a vehicle.

Mr Samuel Amankwah, Deputy Managing Director, Finance, said management believed the vehicle would help facilitate health care delivery.

"By donating this vehicle to needy children, I believe GCB is supporting the implementation of cost-effective health care delivery and interventions, targeted at hard-to reach communities," Mr Amankwah added.

He said management would continue to pay maximum and special attention to the health sector.

GCB presented GHc75, 750 (50,000 dollars) to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and GHc 12,785 to Ridge Hospital.

In addition, GCB presented cheques totaling GHc 11,500 to defray the medical bills of five needy children in response to appeals through the media.

Dr Eric Sefa, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, in the company of the Reverend Father Andrew Campbell, Chairman of Board of Directors of the hospital, expressed appreciation to the GCB and said the bus had come at a most appropriate time.

"This vehicle will also serve as an all purpose vehicle and an ambulance since our 17-year-old ambulance has broken down and now at a mechanical shop for repairs. The hospital now needs an ambulance urgently," he said.
