Accra, March 10, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday called on Chinese investors to utilize the potential and goodwill in Ghana for investment to consummate the relationship between both countries. He said Ghana was positioning herself for partnership with developed countries in the global village on a win-win principle for mutual benefit.

President Kufuor made the call when Mr Wei Jianguo, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce, led a Chinese Government delegation on Bilateral Economic Co-operation and Trade in Ghana to pay a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu.

He said the Government was creating the enabling friendly business atmosphere to attract investors to utilize the resources that had made Ghana the potential gateway to the West African Sub-Region.

"These natural resources are virtually begging for exploitation and we want partners to exploit them for our mutual benefit", he said. President Kufuor cited the bauxite deposits in Ghana and other neighbouring countries that could be developed because Ghana had a smelter, hydro-energy resources and the Gas Pipeline project that could be utilised for processing bauxite into alumina for export to the global market.

Mr Wei said about 16 Chinese entrepreneurs were willing to invest in Ghana under joint ventures with their Ghanaian counterparts. He said negotiations were under way to establish an industrial zone to attract Chinese investors to invest in agro-processing, solar energy and communications.

"There are potentials in our bilateral relations and efforts would be made to improve and sustain it", he said.
