The first edition of the Africa media Advertising Sales Summit has been launched with Ghana being the host country.

The event brought together several stakeholders and professionals to share ideas on media sales and offer practical solutions in media and revenue generation.

The theme for this edition “The future of Media Sales prospect, challenges and the opportunities” is anchored on the liberalisation of the Ghanaian media landscape, the increase in the number of communication channels and the media revenue generation.

“The aim for AfriMass is to create a platform where individuals and cooperate institutions come together and share common knowledge and ideas on media sales and marketing.” Managing Partner of AfriMass Raymond Smith has said.

Speaking to www.ghanaweb.com, Managing Partner of Afiba Consulting, Jesse Agyepong gave insight on the approach of cooperate landscape to media houses vis a vis how to build a stronger relationship between media houses and the cooperate world.

“It’s been said that the consumer needs are changing or are insatiable so it keeps on changing. So how do you ensure you’re making yourself relevant to the changing consumer needs”.

“What’s a company without a consumer and what’s a consumer without a company?…understand that the consumer has not changed, the consumer has always been the same, consumers taste and preferences will keep on changing”, Mr. Agyepong stated.

He further advised sales personnel in the media agencies to focus beyond the cost and concentrate more on the values.

“Always work with value as a sales person… if your equity is weak, find someone with a strong equity to support you.” He said.

The summit came off Friday 28th June 2019, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

General Manager of Vizuem Ghana Emmanuel Odoom noted that media agencies in Ghana must develop their sales strategies. Adding that when dealing with clients, professionalism should be exhibited.
