Ghana lauded for hosting maiden African Air Expo 2017

Secretary-General of the African Civil Aviation Commission, Iyabo Sosina has commended Ghana for taking the “giant” step toward making Ghana aviation a hub in West Africa.

According to Iyabo Sosina, the three-day West African Air Expo, hosted by the country is in the right direction as it would open up Africa for foreign investment, saying, “It is in a bid to bring the private sector, business people from around the world to partner with the state in Africa for aviation to develop and to ensure connectivity”.

She lauded Ghana for being the first country in West Africa to have taken the initiative in establishing a strong aviation industry on the African continent.

“You find the likes of it in the most developed parts of the world. We’ve never had any in West Africa so this is a feat for Ghana, not only for Ghana because I know they have stated it several times that it’s for the whole of Africa,” she noted.

About the African Air Show 2017

The African Air Show 2017 which is being held in partnership with 4M Events of Abu Dhabi, organisers of the Paris Air Show, seeks to engage major players within the African and global Aviation space with the aim of positioning Ghana as an aviation hub

The programme which is the maiden on in the West African Sub region saw government departments, airport companies, airlines, flight school academies, ground handling services, military and defence, security agencies, cargo handling services, representatives of aircraft manufacturers, among others exhibit their products.

The three-day event is expected to end on Thursday October 26, 2017.
