Ghana poised to strengthen trade with Cote d'Ivoire

Accra, Jan 14, GNA - Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways on Wednesday expressed the desire of Ghana to strengthen its economic ties with Cote d'Ivoire.

He said an increased collaboration would go a long way to enhance the economic and trade relations that existed between the two nations. Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi made this statement when Mr Amon Nii Koi, the Ivorian Ambassador to Ghana, called on him at his office in Accra.

The meeting, which was convened at the instance of the Ambassador, was to discuss bilateral relationship between Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire. Professor Ameyaw Akumfi promised to promote an increased collaboration between the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and its Ivorian counterparts.

Mr Amon Nii Koi expressed the wish to see increased cooperation between the ports of Cote d'Ivoire and that of Takoradi and Tema, both in Ghana.

He said the two countries stood to benefit from increased partnership between the port authorities.
