Accra, July 6, GNA- Mr Prince Oduro-Mensah, Member of Parliament for Techiman South has said Ghana is ready to be promoted on the international market given the relative political and conducive business atmosphere in the country.

He therefore, called on Parliament and civil societies to partner government through the Ministries of Tourism, and Modernisation of the Capital City, and Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiatives (PSIs) to sell Ghana outside.

Mr. Oduro-Mensah was contributing to a debate in Parliament on Tuesday on "Ghana Expo 2004", a trade, investment, exhibition and seminar on Ghana dubbed "Ghana Week" scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia US, from September 23 to 26, this year.

The MP said: "Amidst the relative tranquillity in our socio-economic life it is strategically imperative for Parliament, civil society, and indeed all men of goodwill to sell Ghana as the preferred destination for business, investment, trade and tourism, as far as West Africa is concerned."

He urged the participants to expose Ghana and make her impact felt in trade and cultural relations saying, "this is a good moment Ghanaians must exploit to the fullest."

He appealed to professional bodies including the Chartered Institute Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) to promote made-in-Ghana products on the world market.

In his contribution, Mr Kosi Kedem NDC-Hohoe South said it is a great opportunity for the country to advertise itself and explore other untapped avenues to increase revenue.

He advised the participants to add value to their packaging and ensure that they supply the needed quality of products required to satisfy the world market while urging the organisers to avoid unnecessary and unhealthy means, which might tarnish the image of Ghana. 6 July 04
