The Deputy Energy Minister Inusah Fuseini has confirmed the bleakness of the current power crisis.
In an interview with XYZ News, he said the situation is extremely gloomy.
“In fact speaking to the authorities in Nigeria and looking at what has been happening at the West Africa Gas pipeline, there is no guarantee that even if Nigeria resumes gas supply we would have our regular supply of gas that is the reality of the matter” Inusah Fuseini said.
Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana has described as critical, the current national power crisis which has resulted in an ongoing load shedding exercise.
Gas supply from Nigeria to the country has been halted, reducing the generation of power supply from the Volta River Authority and forcing the Sunon Asogli Plant to be shut down.
Energy supplying firm, Ghana Grid Company directed the ECG and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company to implement the load shedding exercise as soon as possible to allow engineers of the West Africa Pipeline Company resolve the problem and restore normal power supply.
About 400 megawatts of power has been shed in the country so far.
Public Relations Officer, Tetteh Okine in an interview with host of Breakfast XYZ said ECG cannot immediately determine which areas will be affected.
