President John Dramani Mahama has declared that Ghana’s economy is regaining strength, with key fundamentals showing signs of sustained improvement.
Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026, he attributed the progress to his administration’s fiscal discipline and prudent expenditure management.
According to the President, these measures have restored investor confidence and positioned the country for accelerated growth.
“Ghana is back, Ghana is working again, and Ghana is open for business. The fundamentals are improving, and the path to sustained acceleration is very clear to everyone,” President Mahama stated.

He further emphasised that his government has chosen discipline over waste and stability over speculation. This strategy, he said, has yielded remarkable outcomes across the economy.
The State of the Nation Address is a constitutional obligation under Article 67 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, requiring the President to appear before Parliament at the start of each session to report on the condition of the nation.
The annual address provides a comprehensive overview of the country’s progress and challenges, covering critical sectors such as the economy, health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and international relations.
It also sets out the government’s policy priorities and development agenda for the year ahead.
