Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament
The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has praised the remarkable turnaround of Ghana’s economy within the past year.
He noted that just a year ago, the economy was in dire straits, but significant progress has since been achieved under the leadership of the Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and the Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Johnson Asiama, stressing that they both deserve an Order of the Volta in recognition of their efforts.

The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament made this known in a post on his X page on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
"Just a year ago, things were horribly going out of scope in this economy. The new finance minister, Dr Ato Forson and the BoG Governor, Dr Asiama, deserve an Order of the Volta," he wrote.
According to him, Ghana’s economy, now rated ‘B-/B’ by S&P, has recovered impressively from its previous junk status of CCC-.

He commended the economic team for achieving such a transformation within twelve months through dedication and humility, without any fanfare or publicity gimmicks.

"What they’ve rescued in 12months is incredible & all these achieved in absolute humility. No fan fare. No formation of Cedi strengthening Team. No Reserve Collecting Committee. No public Waakye-Kenkey eating party…," he added.
His comments follow Ghana’s economic performance over the past year, which has shown steady signs of recovery and resilience.
Key economic indicators, including inflation, exchange rate stability, and fiscal discipline, have all recorded notable improvements, reflecting the results of prudent management and the implementation of sound structural reforms.
The upgrade of Ghana’s credit rating by S&P from a junk status to ‘B-/B’ signals renewed investor confidence and a stronger macroeconomic outlook.
