Ghana to stop receiving donor support by 2018 - Prez

President Mahama has given the assurance that Ghana will stop depending on donors in the next five years or more.

According to him, the country has drawn a programme with the donors in to that end.

President Mahama revealed this when he took his turn at the Institute of Economic Affairs Presidential debate last night.

President Mahama said “we have a programme already with the donors to transition out of the donor support and its and agreement that we have signed. The intention is to reduce donor support in relation to our own internally generated revenue.”

He said Ghana is capable of achieving this feat by 2018 if the country consistently continues to grow between 8 and 10 percent.

On the Economic Partnership Agreement, President Mahama said Ghana’s desire is to implement an EPA in consonance with ECOWAS’s agenda.

He however said the Ghana and Ivory Coast stand to be the biggest losers if the agreement is not signed on time.
