Ghana to study Norway’s oil and gas sector

The Sekondi/Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to undertake a fact finding visit to Norway to study the management of their oil and gas sector.

Mr Vincent Annan, Executive Secretary of the Chamber, said Norway had great examples in terms of policies, regulations and best practices that must be harnessed for the progressive development of Ghana’s oil and gas sector.

Mr Annan said this when Ms Hege Herteberg, Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana, paid a visit to the Chamber’s office in Takoradi. The visit was to enable the two countries to share ideas on best practices in the oil and gas sector.

Mr Annan said it would also enable Ghana to undertake evidence based advocacy in championing the course of women in the extractive industry. He said the chamber would also visit selected ports in Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, Holland and Amsterdam among other places.

Ms Herteberg, on her part, stressed the need for the oil resources to be used in areas that would benefit the generality of the people. She called for transparency in all negotiations regarding the sector to avoid corruption.
