Minister of Business Development, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has commended Ghanaian students for their proactiveness and willingness to study, describing them as ‘smart’ and ‘brilliant’.

Encouragement, support and the required space he said, is all they need to forge forward and achieve great things.

Addressing an audience at the Ministry of Information in Accra, Dr. Awal spoke about the government’s successful job creation and entrepreneurship policies that have contributed positively to reducing the rate of youth unemployment in the country.

“The 4000+ jobs we created was only for last year. And that’s only for us, those who have business support. There are jobs created from presidential pitch, and from greenhouse. Put together will be like 8,000. But you see, it has a snow board effect. So this year, if we train about one thousand and fifty, we are going to support 3,000 people now. These 3,000 people are going to help create their own jobs in addition to last year, and last year’s will also increase”, He remarked.

Dr. Awal spoke about the government’s tertiary edition of the Student Entrepreneurship Initiative (SEI) policy which was launched in Accra in April by the Ministry of Business Development and the University of Ghana Business School to build the entrepreneurship mindset among students at the tertiary levels.
