Ghanaians spend nearly half of their income on food
A new report from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has revealed that Ghanaians spend nearly half of their income on food.
According to the findings, for every GH¢100 earned, GH¢42 goes directly toward food expenses.
The report underscored the critical role farmers play in sustaining livelihoods and the need for government to strengthen food security.
It called for continuous investment and support in the agricultural sector to make food more affordable and accessible to all.

The celebration, held at the Ho Sports Stadium under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” honoured farmers and fishers whose dedication continues to anchor the country’s food security and rural economy.
The event also showcased agricultural innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships aimed at building resilience in Ghana’s food systems.
