Mr Norbert Ambaahikpiengu, the Jirapa Municipal Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of paying their taxes regularly no matter how small to help develop the nation.

Regular payment of taxes by citizens, he said, was the only way they could contribute their quota to the government’s vision of developing “Ghana beyond Aid”.

Mr Ambaahikpiengu who said this during a tax education campaign in Jirapa stated that no nation could develop without its citizens paying their taxes.

Payment of taxes is a civic responsibility and a constitutional obligation, he said, hence the need for citizens to comply.

The Jirapa Municipal NCCE Director reminded the people that it was their right to demand accountability from duty-bearers, but added that could only be done when citizens fulfilled their obligation of paying taxes without default.

He advised all persons and entities to register with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to enable them pay tax.

The second phase of the tax compliance education in the Municipality, the Commission said, it was able to reach out to 30 identifiable groups and conducted 12 broadcasts in market centres and in Jirapa.
