Ghana’s donor partners are reportedly holding back funding support, six months after the country signed a three-year programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

There were indications the approval of an IMF programme for Ghana will restore confidence in the economy among the country’s donor partners.

But the Executive Director of the Institute of Fiscal Studies Professor Newman Kusi says the IMF deal has not changed the situation.

According to him, government must prioritize winning back the confidence of donors by effectively managing the economy.

“Grants from developing partners have declined sharply from 1.2 billion cedis in 2009 to 287 million in 2014 and only 325 million was released for the first five months of this year, this should serve as a wake up call for the country’s fiscal managers,” Prof. Kusi said.
