Government has set up a committee to begin investigations into allegations of fraud leveled against the Chief Executive of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Bertha Sogah.

It’s unclear exactly when investigations will begin into the matter but Citi Business News has gathered that the matter is likely to be taken over by EOCO.

Bertha Sogah was on Thursday directed to proceed on leave to pave way for investigations into allegations of fraud and conflicts of interest.

She has been accused of diverting about GH¢ 500, 000 belonging to MASLOC to Microfinance Company called Amisgold Microfinance Service Limited believed to be owned by her husband.

Information Minister, Mahama Ayariga told Citi Business News, the President has directed the Board to ensure that Mrs Sogah proceeds on leave while the matter is looked into.

“In order to remove the possibility of investigations being interfered, the President has asked her to go on leave. The President will instruct the right agency to conduct investigations. MASLOC itself is one of the bodies under the Presidency so there will be internal auditing etc but if there is the need to engage external bodies we will do so,” he said
