Mr Seth Terkper, Minister of Finance said on Tuesday that government was committed to use tourism as an instrument for the full realization of the economic potential of culture and creative arts industry.
This was contained in his 2013 Budget read before Parliament in Accra on the theme:“sustaining Confidence in the Future of the Ghanaian Economy”.
He said the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts would facilitate the interface between government and implementing bodies in tourism, culture and the creative arts.
Mr Terkper said the National Commission on Culture was being restructured being the government's lead implementing and advisory body on Culture and Creative Arts and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
“Government would allocate funds to the sector while reactivating the Culture Trust Fund together with the civil society partners in the culture sector,” he added.
“We would in the very short term facilitate the holding of a donors’ conference on resource mobilization for the development of culture and creative arts”.
