Gov’t will support private estate developers - Sampson Ahi

The Ministry of Water Resources Works and Housing has said government is ready to work in partnership with the private sector to address the current 1.7 million housing deficit in the country.

The Deputy sector Minister, Sampson Ahi, stated that there is a huge housing deficit in the country and government alone cannot address it, therefore, it will partner the private sector developers so that they can meet the target.

“It is government’s duty to provide housing facilities for its citizens and support the individual actors in the industry to be able to achieve their objectives.”

Mr Ahi said this when he inspected the Blue Rose Limited housing site at Buduburam.

According to him, government believes that working with private local estate developers will help tackle the housing deficit, lessen the burden of citizens, as well as help grow the economy.

He pledged government’s support to partner the local actors in the industry saying, government would look at the modalities and put some schemes in place.

Mr Ahi, therefore, called on Ghanaians to take advantage of the opportunity to own an accommodation at an affordable price and also support the local estate developers across the country as they seek to produce quality housing facilities.
