The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu says government is committed to deepening openness and transparency in the recruitment process of individuals for the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
According to the Minister, the Agency has suffered enough bad press and will not tolerate any further negativity through the actions of its administrators.
It is alleged that some potential recruits tend to influence the system to get selected.
The YEA was established under the Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation.
Speaking during YEA management training workshop in Kumasi on Friday, he charged the Regional and District Coordinators to exhibit equity in their line of duty.
‘We expect that each district will benefit, we do not want reports where we will hear that in some districts just a few people were recruited, and others had the highest number, that is discriminatory, and that is not permissible, and that should not be acceptable, you must show equity to reflect population size and opportunities that may come,’ he entreated.
He indicated that they YEA was in the process of recruiting 100,000 people.
