The government has developed and allocated 1,000 acres of land to build the largest poultry brooder house and hatchery in Ghana, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has disclosed.

The project will take place at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.

Also, 600 acres of rice have been harvested and 300 acres of maize have been cultivated in the first season of production.

During the 2024 mid-year budget presentation in Parliament, Dr. Amin Adam said, "Mr. Speaker, at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, we have developed and allocated 1,000 acres of land to build the largest poultry brooder house and hatchery in Ghana."

"Additionally, 600 acres of rice have been harvested and 300 acres of maize have been cultivated in the first season of production," he added.

The development of the poultry brooder house and hatchery is expected to significantly boost Ghana's poultry sector, which is fraught with several challenges such as limited local production capacity, high import of poultry products, and disease outbreaks, among others.

The new facility is also geared towards the increase in local production, reduce reliance on imports, create jobs and economic opportunities for farmers, processors, and other stakeholders in the poultry value chain.

This initiative aligns with the government's efforts to promote agricultural growth, improve food security, and enhance Ghana's economic development.
