Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin has suggested the need for government institutions to begin to use vehicles manufactured by Ghanaian Engineering firm Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo automobile.
According to the Overload of Akyem Abuakwa state, government must purchase some of the Kantanka vehicles to institutions such as the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Immigration Service among others to use instead of spending huge foreign currencies to purchase expensive foreign made vehicles for the institutions.
He said this will not only create jobs in the country, but also help grow the Ghanaian economy.
‘Government can buy a whole lot for Police, Fire Service, Immigration among others instead of importing Land cruisers of $130,000 and $140,000 when they can purchase it $35,000 locally of which repairs and maintenance can be done by same local firm,’ he suggested.
Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin said on Monday at Kibi when Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka Automobile company delivered customised four wheel drive vehicles with brand name Kantanka-Okyehene manufactured by the company in Ghana.
Okyehene purchased the vehicles at the cost of $35,000 equivalent to GHC150,000.
The Okyehene accompanied by Okyehemaa Nana Dokua were presented with keys of the vehicles after a brief ceremony.
After a jolly test drive by Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin, he commended Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo founder of Kantanka Automobile for the magnificent ingenuity in manufacturing such vehicles in the country.
He called for the support of government and all Ghanaians in promoting the made in Ghana products to help reduce unemployment and boost local economy.
Okyehene ordered for hand -made customised vehicle for official use at his palace.
The Chief Executive Officer of Kantanka Group of Companies Kwadwo Sarfo Jnr said the company is targeting traditional rulers throughout the country to purchase vehicles manufactured by Kantanka Automobile Company limited to influence the trust of people in products made by the company.
He said the company is committed to pushing the Kantanka brand throughout the country for Ghanaians to purchase it instead of foreign vehicles to stimulate the economy of Ghana.
Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka Jnr urged government to give the company a tax waiver to be able to manufacture products with relative affordable prices for Ghanaians.
The Public Relations Officer of Kantanka Group of Companies, Nana Yaw Amoako announced that Kantanka automobile will soon manufacture saloon cars and buses into the Ghanaian market.
