Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Robert Ahomka-Lindsay has reiterated government’s commitment to promoting made in Ghana products.
According to the deputy minister the decision to encourage the patronage of products manufactured in Ghana is to help local manufacturing businesses grow.
“We want to encourage that because it helps you as a manufacturer. You are part of Ghana’s manufactory base and if our behavior doesn’t support you then we are letting you down,” he said.
He added “if we are telling you to do something then we must also walk the talk... that is why this government made a commitment in its manifesto and is sticking to it that 70% of taxpayers expenditure will be spent on made-in-Ghana”.
Robert Ahomka-Lindsay was speaking at the Ghana Manufacturing Awards organized on Friday, 31st May 2019.
The Awards scheme celebrates innovation in the industry with an ultimate aim of compelling professionals and companies to compete locally and globally.
32 companies and individuals who demonstrated outstanding performance in stewardship, health and safety, corporate social responsibility and innovation in the manufacturing industry were honoured at this year’s event.
According to organisers, the Manufacturing Awards looks out for the very best in manufacturing from all aspects of the industry.
Bel-Aqua won the award for Water Producing Company of the Year and Coca-Cola took home the award for Non-Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturing Company of the Year whilst Kasapreko got Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturing Company of the Year
