In the month of July, government will be making a critical decision on whether or not to go ahead with the IMF deal.

A senior minister, Yaw Osarfo Marfo has revealed that government is currently in talks with officials from the IMF to examine the economic fortunes of the country ,a move which could settle the all time question of whether or not the program could be extended. “I do not think the government intends to extend the program but we want to hear from the Fund,” the minister is quoted as stating.

The NDC administration entered a three-year program with the IMF at a tune of $918 million dollars which is going to be distributed in various bits and pieces.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) while in opposition had argued that the IMF program would result in the Ghanaian economy facing stark challenges as well as hiccups in the economy a development which has seen the NPP administration stick to an abrogation of the IMF deal.
