Government transformational agenda will make Ghana Africa’s industrial hub – Alan

Government’s industrial transformational agenda to expand and diversify the economy is rapidly in progress according to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

According to him, new sectors are being introduced particularly with the attraction of some major global players in the automobile sector with the likes of Renault, Nissan, Volkswagen automobile companies to assemble their plants.

Delivering a keynote address at the grand opening of Afrotropic Cocoa Processing Company at Spintex on behalf of the President, the Minister mentioned that government is about initiating the garment and textile sector, the aluminum and iron ore sector to make Ghana an industrial hub in Africa.

He commended the management and leadership of the company established by a global Italian company NUTKAO GROUP for siting a cocoa processing company which employs over a hundred Ghanaians and processes 15, 000 tons.

The establishment of the company is in line with government’s flagship programme “One District One Factory” and that it is governments wish to have more cocoa processing firms.

Alan Kojo Kyeremateng believes that creating an enabling environment and ensuring solid macroeconomic stability attracts investments of this nature. He challenged them further to processing to 30,000 tons.

And that government will support them in their effort to export their products to the USA through the duty-free agreement under the AGOA Initiative.

Meanwhile, the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Giovanni Faviini said the collaboration between Ghana and Italy will do both countries a lot of good particularly Ghana because Italy is very strong in the sector of Small Scale and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

And that they have machinery for adding value to Ghana’s cocoa. Therefore, they are ready to give out Italian machinery, technology and investors.
