Accra, Aug. 24, GNA - Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday reiterated Government’s commitment to support indigenous Ghanaian businesses to grow to greater heights in their endeavours.
“Government is willing to spur indigenous businesses on and Ghana as a country is opened, business friendly and will therefore support the moves of businesses to blossom.”
Vice President Mahama said this when a delegation from Ernst and Young, a reputable Accounting outfit, called on him at the Castle, Osu.
The delegation, which was led by Xanele Xaba, Director of Entrepreneur of the Year: Africa was in the Castle to inform the Vice President on the activities they were undertaking in Ghana to whip-up the enthusiasm of the business community.
Vice President Mahama also appealed to managements of businesses in the country to come out with effective plans that would enable them to determine their challenges and adopt measures that successful entrepreneurs had used in the past to achieve their goals.
He also called for effective collaboration among the business community in order to avoid the mistakes of the past organizations that collapsed due mainly to poor planning and lack of effective business ideas.
Madam Xaba said their activities, which now include awarding of enterprising businesses had risen to cover 50 countries, while nine new programmes had been initiated and launched in Africa.
She announced that her outfit would this year honour successful entrepreneurs and business role models from Ghana and Nigeria in Lagos and called for government support to encourage the growth and development of businesses.
Other members of the delegation included Kwadwo Brantuo, Assurance Partner, Djarbanor Narh, Advisory Partner, Barbara Mensah, Coordinator of Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (Ghana).
