GOVT SUPPORTS PSI ON GARMENTS WITH $1M ? Pg. 15
The Government has earmarked about one million dollars to assist in the development of garments under the President?s Special Initiative (PSI) on garments.
Presidential Press Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, at a media briefing at the Castle last Monday said the decision followed the tremendous improvements being made in the garments sector since the initiative began.
He said more than 9000 people have been trained to work on various machines to produce the garments which keep on receiving orders from Europe and the USA.
On the PSIs on cassava and palm oil, Mr Agyepong said they were steadily growing, adding that the President calls for the support of all.
He said 12 oil palm nursery sites have been developed throughout the country and there were plans to increase the number in the next four years. This would form the basis for a major oil palm development in Ghana.
