Govt secures $72m for rural devt projects

Apam, April 27, GNA- The International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank and Agence Francaise Development (AFD) have made available a total of 72 million dollars to the government for community based development projects in all the 10 regions of the country. The IDA provided 60 million dollars while the AFD gave out 12 million dollars.

Mr Eric Akobeng, Gomoa District Budget Officer, said this at a day's workshop organized by the Gomoa District Assembly.


He said the Ghana government and the two donors have earmarked 8.52 million dollars to be used to strengthen capacity, technical training and logistical support to the communities in ensuring decision making.

It would also help to strengthen local government institutions at the national, regional, district and area councils. Nana Aduse Poku, Gomoa District Finance Officer, said the there was the need for stakeholders and government officials to monitor funds from the government and foreign inflows.
