HR Focus Awards 2019: MTN Ghana wins Overall Best Organization in HR Practice

MTN Ghana has emerged as the overall winner of the Human Resource Focus Awards 2019 (HR Focus) held on Friday, October 11, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

This makes it the third time in a row the telecommunications giant has received the coveted award which inducts them into the Hall of Fame of the awards scheme.

MTN Ghana also won the awards for the Best Organisation in Employer and Branding, Best Organisation in Learning and Development.

Ama Benneh-Amponsah, the Human Resource Director for MTN Ghana, speaking to GhanaWeb after the event was elated by the success of her company and highlighted it as an essential and strategic role in nourishing organizational growth in a highly competitive global environment.

“The entire leadership of MTN is committed to people and over the years, we have tried to look at the best not just within our telecommunications industry but other industries as well and we actually aspire to be global winners and compete with other global brands. When you put people first, you get the best results as an organization because it’s the people who deliver the results for you,” she remarked.

The HR Focus Awards gave out over 27 awards on the night to HR practitioners and HR teams across industries in Ghana to recognize and honour their achievements.



The event was attended by over 200 professionals and business executives across the country.

Honorary awards were also given to individuals and institutions for their innovative contributions to HR management and development in Ghana.

Dr. Hazel Berrard Amuah of Guinness Ghana was awarded the HR practitioner of the year 2019.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) was awarded the Best Organisation in the Public Sector, Guinness Ghana emerged the Best Organisation in Manufacturing and Mr. Victor Otu was crowned the Best HR Rising Star for 2019.

Dr. Ellen Hagan, a member of the HR Focus Awards Technical Committee, urged HR practitioners to develop people to make them relevant in the emerging trends of management.

The 2019 HR Focus Awards was designed to bring together top-level executives and business professionals with the aim of shared learning and discussions around a central theme, agile working and redefining productivity.

The awards scheme recognizes and honors organisations that have built up a tradition of best practice in HR management.
