Hairdressers complete training under GYEEDA module

About 120 hairdressers, who have completed their apprenticeship, have been presented with start-up kits to establish their own businesses at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The training and presentation of the start-up kits was jointly undertaken by Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Development Agency (GYEEDA) and Azuntaba, an NGO at an estimated cost of GH¢25,000.

Gordon Kwaku Asubonteng, Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, who presented the kits, said it formed part of the government’s Public-Private-Partnership agenda, to harness available public and private resources for national development.

He gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to liaise with relevant public and private entities including NGOs to draw more interventions into areas with the potential for job creation.

Mr Asubonteng appealed to the beneficiaries to adopt the habit of savings and engage in laid-down accounting procedures to promote their businesses.

Mr Godfred Kumi Acheaw, Municipal Coordinator of GYEEDA said 150 apprentices applied to undertake the training but 30 of them withdrew later.

Ms Charity Addo and Ms Ama Julie on behalf of their colleagues expressed appreciation to the organisers said she was optimistic that it would help reduce unemployment in the Municipality.
