The management of Heritage Bank has pledged its support to small- and medium-scale enterprises as part of the bank’s contribution to Ghana’s economy.

Heritage Bank, a wholly indigenous Ghanaian bank, on Thursday, June 29, 2017 launched a state-of-the-art branch which is located in the heart of Suame-Magazine in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

Management maintains that the location of its new branch in Kumasi underscores the bank’s promise to bring a refreshing brand of convenient banking closer to customers within the various communities it serves.

The managing director of the bank, Patrick Edwin Fischian, speaking to the press after an official opening of the branch, reiterated the bank’s focus on customer convenience and support.

He said the bank was not only interested in profit maximisation but policies that will go a long way to benefit its customers.

“Our goal is not just profit maximisation. We are here to make a contribution to the Ghanaian economy. Being a local bank, we want to assist small- and medium-scale enterprises and local companies to achieve their business objectives. Of course we will also benefit from that because if we help the business to grow, the economy will grow and of course there will be more business for us to do. So, maybe, in the short term it may appear that an additional bank may not be of a positive effect but in the medium to long term, it will inure to the benefit of everyone. Indeed I will expect customers to be excited because the more competition there is, the more option they have and of course the greater benefit it will be to them,” Mr Fiscian stated.

The head of licensing and supervision at the Bank of Ghana, Emmanuel Adwini Boakye, delivering a keynote address, urged banks in the country to scale up their Information Technology systems to deal with cybercrime.
