A three-storey shopping mall in downtown Ho with 48 shops and offices would soon be opened to the general public by the middle of the year.
Located at what used to be the night market near the State Transport Company (STC) terminal, the GHC800, 000 project was initiated by the Ho Municipal Assembly with funding from the District Development Fund.
Mr Emmanuel Dogbevia, Head of the Works Department of the Assembly, said “internal works are at about 97 per cent through whiles the external works are over 80 per cent complete.”
He said the facility was strategically located at Civic Centre to revive economic activities in the area.
Mr Anthony Dagadu, Volta Regional Consultant of the Architectural Engineering Services Limited (AESL) said the remaining work would soon be completed and the facility would be handed over to the Municipal Assembly. Construction of the Ho shopping mall, renovation of the Ho Central Market and Ho Township roads were major concerns some opinion leaders raised during the 2012 electioneering campaign.
Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, told the GNA on Monday that consultants were working on designs for work to begin on a modern Central Market in Ho.
At a public forum recently, some residents of Ho-Fiave, Ho-Central Zongo, Kabore and Ola Down commended the Municipal Assembly for improving access roads in those areas.
Mr Joy Afagbedzi, Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the access roads were making police patrols in the Municipal area much easier.
