Mr Seth Adjei Baah, President, Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industries, has urged members in the hospitality industry, to come out with innovative measures to generate electricity in order to save their work.

He noted that a lot of hoteliers are going through challenges due to the power outages, hence the need for them to come out with pragmatic measures so that their businesses could survive.

Mr Adjei Baah said this on Thursday during the launch of the maiden edition of the Annual National Hotels Awards slated for November 21, in Accra.

He called on Ghanaians to endeavour to support the hospitality sector as it has contributed immensely towards the socio-economic development of the nation.

Mr Adjei Baah who is the owner of Ramadan Hotel, located at Nungua expressed worry that most of the three to five star hotels in the country are owned by foreigners.

He called for the implementation of the needed measures to ensure that local business men could also own top rated hotels.

He called on the awards committee to be transparent in their work and only give the honours to people who truly deserve them in order to make the scheme credible and acceptable to Ghanaians.

Nana Barima Adjei Twinin 1, Former National President, Ghana Hotels Association, appealed to corporate organisations, especially hotel owners across the country to support the award scheme through sponsorship.

He said the Association which was formed 40 years ago with about 20 members, could now boast of about 1, 0000.

In all 24 categories including the Hotel of the Year, Human Resource Manager of the Year, Regional Chairperson of the Year, Long Serving Staff of the Year, Food and Beverages Manager of the Year would be rewarded.
