Huawei Technologies Ghana has shared a message from its global headquarters, reiterating the world’s second largest smartphone maker’s commitment to developing sustainable software ecosystem.

The company said as a key global partner of Android, it had worked to develop a robust ecosystem that had been very beneficial to users and the industry, globally.

A statement issued by Integriti News Agency, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, said Huawei Ghana shared the message in the wake of the ban it faces from Google on the use of its operating systems.

The statement from the global office of Huawei reads: “Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Android around the world.

“As one of Android’s key global partners, we have worked closely with their open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefitted both users and the industry.

“Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products covering those which have been sold or still in stock globally”.

The company, the statement said, would continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem, in order to provide the best experience for all users globally.”

In view of the trade war between the United States and China, the Trump Administration has added the Chinese multilateral technology company to the list of companies that American firms cannot trade with unless they secure a license.

Google has said in compliance with the export restrictions, it has cut off the license of Huawei and thus banned the company from using apps such as google map and Gmail.

Existing customers can, however, update their phones and apps. But they cannot upload a newer version of the Android Operating System.
