Chief Executive Officer of IPMC, Amar Deep Hari, has thrown weight behind the calls for an improved small and medium enterprises sector as it is a viable area that can cushion the country’s economic transformation drive.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s Enablis Business Launchpad Competition in Accra, he said the strength of any economy is known by the number of lower and middle-income white-collar jobs it has and not the number of multinational firms.

He said the SME sector is one strong area that economies around the world are focusing on to sustain growth and significantly improve the lives of its people.

“As a country, we have to support and encourage lower and middle-income white-collar jobs as they are the strength of any economy; as it is said ‘the more SMEs, the stronger an economy’”.

“The strength of an economy is measured by the number of vibrant and productive small and medium enterprises and not the number of multinational firms operating in that economy,” he said.

Mr. Hari said his outfit will continue to support initiatives that will facilitate growth in the country’s SME sector.
