IS commits US$15m into major fibre expansion

Internet Solutions (IS) Ghana plans to bolster Internet speed for enterprise clients by investing US$15million into its metro fibre network over the next three years.

Internet Solutions metro fibre and network infrastructure expansion plans, which was launched in Accra last week by the Communications Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, is expected to help businesses have easier communications with employees and branches all over the world.

According to the Managing Director of Internet Solutions, Yvette Adounvo Atekpe, the metro fibre investment -- which is one of the single biggest strategic investments to be committed by an Internet service provider in the country -- signals the company’s commitment to deliver on high end-to-end service level agreements with its global clients.

She said: “Though there have been significant investments in Ghana’s economy with regard to telecommunications, access to ICT resources has been challenging largely due to limited last mile infrastructure.

“To contribute to the economic growth of our nation, Ghana, Internet Solutions over the next three years has committed to investing US$15million into our metro fibre and network expansion projects.“Our fibre infrastructure therefore becomes an enabler to other solutions, such as connectivity, cloud and communication.

”Internet Solutions, which is a division of South African-based Dimension Data, made its entry into the country’s Internet services business in 2008.Over the years, the company has embarked on continuous investment into its 3.5GHz band wireless network, microwave links and fibre as it bids to offer unrivalled cost-effective Internet solutions to high data consumers across the country.
