Idupriem donates to Sanitation Week

Tarkwa, Sept 15, GNA - Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Limited has donated 20 million cedis towards the lunch of sanitation week to be held at Tarkwa.

Presenting the cheque Mr David Kwesi Renner, Managing Director of Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem, said waste management was a critical national issue because there was growing concern about the disposal of both solid and liquid waste.

This, he said, has come about as a result of increased production of waste. "This is alarming because generally waste is potentially harmful and a threat to the environment." Mr Renner said the problem of sanitation should not be borne by any one organization but should be given a multi-sector approach.

Therefore, the company's donation was to express its commitment in bringing under control sanitation problem in the Wassa West District.

Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu, Wassa West District Chief Executive, expressed gratitude to the company for the donation. "We hope this gesture will go a long way to strengthen the already cordial relations existing between Anglogold

Ashanti and the District," he said.
