The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana has cautioned its members against attending any meetings with the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) without the knowledge of the Association.

Mr Samson Awingobit Asaki, Executive Secretary of the Association, said it had come to their notice that the GSA goes behind the Association to invite individual importers and exporters to negotiate with them.

Mr Asaki reminded its members that the Association had the bargaining power and legal backing to deal with issues such as the Certificate of Conformity(CoC).

He therefore urged members to confirm with the Association any invitation from the GSA before attending their meetings.

He said stakeholders in the import and export industry must have a common ground in dealing with their challenges.

Mr Asaki also informed importers to inform their suppliers to disregard all mails concerning the issuance of Certificate of Conformity.

"We the leadership will do everything possible to stop the CoC either by appealing to government or using the legal means should GSA try to smuggled it into parliament for an LI to introduce such policy," he added.
