As Ghana celebrates its 69th Independence Day on March 6, 2026, retailers and vendors across the country are cashing in on a surge in demand for Ghana jerseys, with prices doubling, and in some cases, tripling.

Merchants and online vendors report high order volumes, with many taking to social media to showcase their sales and excitement.

Vendors in key commercial hubs such as Accra and Kumasi say the Independence season consistently delivers a strong boost in sales, with some noting even higher demand compared to previous years.

Why the Ghana Black Stars jerseys are becoming a hotcake

Typically, Ghana jerseys trend when the national team has a match, but this year the narrative has shifted, as citizens rush to shops to secure theirs for the Independence Day celebrations.

Videos shared on social media show large crowds thronging shops that sell jerseys, with some even engaging in scuffles to get one before they sell out.

Some social media users have pointed out that the current economic climate may make purchasing jerseys more accessible as part of the celebrations.

However, concerns have been raised online, with reports that a single jersey is selling for as much as GH¢500.

With parades, concerts, and cultural events taking place across the country, retailers expect demand for Ghana jerseys and other patriotic merchandise to remain strong throughout Independence Week.
