Inflation, that is the average change in price of goods and services within a period, inched up very marginally for the fourth successive month.

It went up by 0.1 percent in June to record a rate of 9.4 percent. It however remained in the single digit bracket for the 26th consecutive month.

According to figures from the Ghana Statistical Service, both the food and non-food inflation had very little impact on the rate for last month.

The upward trend had been predicted after the value of the cedi depreciated to some extent during the period.

The increment in the year-on-year inflation highlights growing price pressures in the economy.

Meanwhile, Central region once again led the pack as the region with the highest inflation rate of 12.2 percent followed by the Ashanti region with an inflation rate of 10 percent.

The Greater Accra region followed suit with an inflation rate of 9.8 percent.**
