Ho, July 15, GNA - The Ghana Life Insurance Company Limited on Wednesday presented a cheque for 10 million cedis, towards the Volta Region Education Endowment Fund.
Mr Musah Ben-Ahmed, Managing Director of the Company, who presented the cheque, to the Regional Coordinating Council in Ho, said the gesture was the Company's social responsibility to help rejuvenate the falling standards of education in the Region.
He said matters of education must be the priority attention of the private sector and appealed to the people to demonstrate total commitment towards the Fund.
Mr Ben-Ahmed pledged his Company assistance towards the organisation of the Best Teacher award Scheme in the Region.
Mr Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, Regional Minister, who received the cheque commended the Company for the donation and urged other organisations to emulate the example.
He expressed the hope that the Fund would enable the Region to recapture its traditional leadership role in education and scholarship.
