Internal Audit Agency holds seventh annual forum

The Internal Audit Agency (IAA) will hold a two-day forum in Accra, to discuss ways to improve performance, efficiency, accountability and transparency in the use of national resources.

The event scheduled for August 23-24 will be on the theme: “Efficient Management of National Resources: The Role of Internal Auditing.”

Key players in public administration, including internal auditors and manager are expected to participate in the event, according to a statement from IAA, copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday.

It said the forum is in line with the Internal Audit Agency, Act 2003 (Act 658), which requires the Agency to ensure that national resources are adequately safeguarded.

The statement said practical ways of managing national resources efficiently would also be discussed.

It said presentations will be made on efficient management of national resources from key speakers like Dr Tony Aidoo, Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation, Office of the President, Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director, Stanbic Bank, Major (rtd) Daniel Ablorh Quarcoo, Chairman, Public Interest Accountability Committee and Professor Clement Dzidonu, President, Accra Institute of Technology.

Other topics to be discussed are ”using Information and Communication Technology in managing national resources,” and “strategic dimension of risk management in managing national resources.”

The statement said the event aimed at ensuring that national programmes were executed efficiently, effectively and economically (use of national resources).

A previous forum had dwelt on topics relating to internal auditing as a management controls tool, quality service delivery improvement, fraud, waste and abuse of resources, performance and good corporate governance in public institutions.

Participants expected at the forum will include Ministers of State, Parliamentarians, Chief Directors, Chief Executives, Human Resource Managers, Directors of Finance and Administration, Heads of Internal Audit and other stakeholders.
