Mr Francois van Schalkwyk, Technical Manager of the International Business Division of Engen Petroleum in South Africa, is to visit Ghana from May 14 to train players in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry.
Mr van Schalkwyk will equip the participants in standards of lubes and lubrications, basic automotive lubricants, grease lubrication, customer service, product equivalency determination and promotion of proper lubrication.
In a statement signed by Agbeko Lotsu, Corporate Affairs of Engen Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Engen Petroleum, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, said the downstream sector of the petroleum industry in Ghana has become loaded, hence the need for capacity building.
Mr van Schalkwyk said Engen Petroleum comes with a lot of industry experience that the participants can rely on to improve their knowledge level in the selling of lubricants and greases in Ghana.
He said with many new entrances being granted licences to engage in the distribution and retail of refined petroleum products and lubricants, Ghana stands at a cross road of oil lubricant revolution.
Engen Ghana owned by Petronas of Malaysia has decided to further deepen its capacity by appointing key distributors for its lubricant products.
Under a concept called “The Oil Centre,” Engen Petroleum lubricants would now be distributed and sold through new a channel nationwide.
Engen Ghana Limited will train key staff in the stations and lube bays on ways to sell better through a better understanding of lubricants and lubrication.
Engen Ghana’s lubricants range covers all industries including agriculture automobiles, mining, construction, marine industries and specialties.
The Managing Director of Engen Ghana; Mr Henry Akwaboah said “there is no gainsaying the fact that Ghanaian vehicle owners have lost their investments because of the wrong choice and use of lubricants and greases.
“We want to act more responsibly by ensuring that the right skill sets are imparted to the people our customers interact with, that is our front liners, the distributors, the sales force on the forecourts, the lube staff and our own sales men in our offices across Ghana.
“With the right skills and knowledge, our customers will be better served, and they will have value for money spent on our lubricants.
“Our lubricants are better priced and are backed by years of innovative research by our various research partners across the globe,” he stated.
