Mrs Felicia Dapaah, the Municipal Coordinating Director of Ga-West, has called on chiefs, opinion leaders and the public to pay their basic rates regularly to support the rapid development of their communities.

She said payment of rates and acquisition of building permits could help the assemblies to provide the requisite development projects from their internally generated funds before the arrival of funds from the Central Government.

Mrs Dapaah, also the Acting Municipal Chief Executive, was speaking at a Town Hall Meeting organised by the Ga-West Municipal Assembly at Korleyman near Amasaman.

She urged landlords to regularise their documents and pay property rates to help develop the area.

Nana Kwame Agyeman, the Municipal Planning Officer, appealed to landlords and chiefs in the area to discourage building on water ways and avoid selling the same piece of land to different buyers to reduce land litigation.

He called on developers to ensure proper documentation from the Municipal Planning Office to avoid being prosecuted.

Nii Korle VII, the Chief of Korleman, appealed to the Ga-West Municipal Assembly for the reconstruction of an eight-kilometre feeder road linking the town to Pokuase to enable the people to evacuate their foodstuffs to marketing centres for sale.

He said the Assembly should help rehabilitate the three-classroom block it constructed for the community and support the people to construct household toilets.
